Skogen Kitchen is fresh new Scandinavian café nestled amongst the beautiful Oxford colleges.
From the moment you walk in you will be greeted by a warm welcome, fantastic speciality coffee and the aromas of our home-made cinnamon and cardamom buns that we make and bake on the premises every day.
The inspiration comes from our cosy little summerhouse on the south coast of Sweden where generations of the Andersson family have enjoyed summers for over 40 years. We wanted to capture a feeling of the calm woodland and glorious coastline and share with you the fresh cuisine of cured fish, fantastic cheese, artisan bread and healthy salads. Try our Skogen Brunch to get a taste of all of these wonderful ingredients.
We work with local suppliers to bring the best of British ingredients to your plate. Everything is home-made (except the fantastic bread delivered daily by Cornfield Bakery). Our fish comes from Grimsby fish market and delivered super fresh on a Monday morning ready for curing.
We aim to provide a calm and cosy space just off the hustle and bustle of Oxford High Street – perfect for working, catching up with friends over coffee and cake (Fika!) or a quick lunch away with colleagues from the office.

A great start to the day awaits you at Skogen Kitchen. As well as the Skogen Brunch plate we serve the ever popular avocado and poached eggs on sourdough toast, delicious woodland mushrooms on sourdough toast and Nordic heart waffles.
Light and delicious open sandwiches with on artisan light rye and caraway bread
Our house speciality is our signature meatballs. Try them in a hot sandwich or the traditional Swedish way – with potatoes, cream sauce, lingonberry jam and our home-pickled cucumber.
We make 3 delicious kinds every day
Cinnamon and cardamom buns
We bake these fresh every morning and they are packed with flavour. The aroma fills our café and wafts up King Edward Street –no wonder they almost always sell out! If you’d like an order of buns to take home – send us an email in advance and we will bake some especially for you.
All our cakes are home-made by Claire, the founder of Skogen Kitchen (and obsessive baker). Try one of our favourite scandi-cakes – kladdkaka with whipped cream, apple cake with vanilla sauce or Tosca cake. Fancy trying the Swedish classic cake Princesstarta?
